How is it in Finland?

Wonderful. Of course that is my personal opinion but when so many share it, it cannot be that far from the truth.
Finland is very safe, friendly people, fabulous views, warm and cold, light and dark, modern cities, quiet forests, clean beaches, dozens of music-festivals, white Christmas, design, rally, good restaurants, and like any other beautiful country, so much more.

Summernights

Everybody has heard about the nightless Finnish summer nights. The amount of these nights and whether you actually see the sun all the time depends on where in Finland you are. In the south of Finland the midsummer day stays light for almost 19 hours, in the north the longest day lasts for even more than 2 months. Even when the sun sets for an hour or so you can easily read outside through the whole night. When I was young I used to think summer must be over if the sun sets already before eleven in the evening!

The summer nights have a special feel to them. The light changes into a different kind of softer light, the wind gets down, it gets quiet except for a few energetic birds bursting into singing.

Winter

In the snowy winter afternoons you can see the most magical light with a mix of pink, light green and different blue shades, during the hours that the sun is setting. With the light reflecting from the snow you feel like being in a fairytale. Don't forget your camera.

If you ever stay in Finland during a winter night, and there is a little romantic moonlight, go outside for a walk! Put on your warm and cosy winter clothes and let your eyes get used to the darkness. Or I'd better say lightness. First you'll see the moon and hundreds of stars, snow and dark shades. After a while it becomes a warm blue colour, you see even more stars and notice that the moonlight is all the light you need to take a magical walk in a wonderfully quiet, blue Finnish winter world.

The perfect place for a holiday

Finland is the perfect combination of all the nice things. Whether you want your stay to be a peaceful nature holiday, or a culture, modern cities, fancy food or shopping kind of holiday, you'll find it here! And if you want both it is so easy to combine!
